Avyanna & Tarrific Post Sire Stake Wins at Monticello

Monticello, NY (August 6, 2024) – On Monday August 5, Monticello Raceway featured 2 divisions of the New York Sire Stakes for 3-Year-Old Pacing Fillies racing for over $100,000 and 3 splits of the Excelsior Series

The first division $58,100 saw the heavy favorite Peace Talks from the rail let Kissapotamus get the lead only briefly before retaking before the opening panel of 27.4, approaching the half the first over outer flow developed at they hit that panel in 57.7 with Stepabovetherest (B. Boyd) with Avyanna following. Going into the turns Avyanna became a bit rough gaited, down the backside Peace Talk was still the leader, just past the next panel in 1:25, Jason Bartlett popped out the ear plugs on Peace Tallks, Stepabovetherest was now 2 wide. Tyler Buter was keeping Avyanna composed as she still having problems in the turn. Turning for home Peace Talks surrendered and began to tire, Avyanna and Hunting Hula had a clear path as they fanned out 4 wide, Avyanna had no problems in the stretch and was able to outpace Hunting Hula to score a 1 length win in 1:54.3 – $15.80 Just One Bite (J. Marohn Jr.) go up for the show spot.  Avyanna (Roll With Joe – Saulsbrook Alana) hails from the hot barn of Travis Alexander, she is owned by Hailee A. Currie of Rocky Point PE, Canada.

The second heat worth $59,200 had the top 5-point earners in this dash, Jordan Stratton aboard Camerican left strongly from the outside to get the front-end spot, from there they dictated the pace with splits of 27.3 & 57.  Blue Point (B. Boyd) were the first to pull the right line to come first over past the halfway mark in the process he flushed She’s Epic (T. Buter) and Taffific who was sitting third along the wood.  Blue Point couldn’t advance any further as Jason Bartlett had Tarrific in high gear and was in front by half a length in 1:25, Bartlett popped the ear plugs in the paddock turn and unleased a final panel of 27.4 and drew off by 3 to win in 1:52.4, 1/5 off the track record, She’s Epic held on for second and the early front runner Camerican finished third. Tarrific (Huntsville – Road Bet) held on to her title of top point earner in her division, she has now scored wins in 3 NYSS. The sophomore is trained by Chris Ryder for owners Margaret Dey and Let It Ride Stable.

In Excelsior action, Tempville – Tyler Buter (Huntsville – Tempest Blue Chip) got the better of Lady Saturn in a wire-to-wire win in 1:54.4 for her sixth seasonal win. The Huntsville filly is owned by Purple Haze Stable, trained by George Ducharme. The favorite Hurrikaneaphrodite (Huntsville – Platinum Choice) swooped the field turning for home and was an easy 4 length winner in 1:55.1 with Jason Bartlett in the bike for her second consecutive Excelsior win. Petrol Queen 1:55.4 – $ 12.00 scored for driver Braxton Boyd and trainer Ed Hart.

Jason Bartlett and Tyler Buter each bagged driving doubles on the 10-race card that wagered $454,311.52.
