August 20, 2024

Monticello, NY (August 20, 2024) – The final New York Sire Stakes race of the 2024 season took place this afternoon, where two-year-old freshman trotting fillies closed out the season.

The seven-horse field raced for $106,000, Boost and Caviart Adele both made breaks leaving the gate. My Debt Collector with Jimmy Taggart Jr. at the helm, were handed the lead and tripped the beam at every station. They were racing in single file until they hit the 5/8 marker when the favorite Beautiful Sight (T. Buter) and Calculus Risk (J. Stratton) got underway first over to take aim on the leader. In the paddock turn Beautiful Sight was almost even with My Debt Collector but the threat stalled and My Debt Collector cruised home to take the win in 1:59.4 – $5.70. It was the second seasonal win for the Nifty Norman trained daughter of Chapter Seven – Seven Magic Presto.

In Excelsior Action, Going To Vegas (Chapter Seven – Bonnie Lou) skipped away to an eight-length victory in 2:02 – $2.40 and picked up a new lifetime record. The filly was driven by Tyler Buter and is trained by Paul Kelly. Fit N Pretty (J. Stratton) was second followed by Mets Heart (B. Aldrich Jr.)

The other division saw Always A Story (Chapter Seven – Danica Hall), who was last turning for home, roar home on the far outside to get up for the win aboard in 2:02.2 – $40.20 over Michelons’s Titan (T. Buter) Gates Brunet was the winning driver and trainer for owners DA Brunet, R. McNerney and Ted Gewertz.
