This afternoon was one of the hottest days of the year at the Mighty M, with the mid card temperature reaching 91 degrees.

The afternoons featured race was the $8,000 Open Pace for horses and geldings that attracted 8 entries. Hustling away from the 7 hole was World For Two (M. Sowers) who was looking to find a spot along the hole but the hole never materialized and he was parked to the opening panel in 27 as Sectionlineronnie (R. Silvestri) from the rail was on top at the opening beam in 27. Chantepleure had an off day and made an uncharacteristic break approaching the half for driver Jimmy Devaux. The positions on the front end remained unchanged at the half in 56, the first over flow was now developing by Life In Color (G. Merton) and Beebeetee were on the move. Down the backside things started to heat up, the front runner Sectionlineronnie began to wilt as did World For Two, Beebeetee and Shane Adam were both mounting their first over challenge hitting the next split in 1:25.3. in the paddock turn they were 3 deep, Beebetee forged his way to the top with a fast closing Shane Adam (F. Paquet Jr.) getting up for second followed by Life In Color for 2 length win in 1:54.3 – $17.40, in the process his picked up a new lifetime record.  The winner is trained by Danny Gill, with the win Gill is now tied with Gary Messenger for second place.

Cory Stratton had a big day with 2 winners hailing from his barn, Chip In Blue scored in a wire to wire performance in 1:58.4 – $2.40, the 3 year old son of Heston Blue Chip notched his second seasonal win on the year. Next up was Selina’s Choice, the 3 year old is a daughter of Courtly Choice, she took a new lifetime mark in a 4 length romp in 2:01 – $2.20, both of his winners are owned by Bay Pond Racing Stable of Malvern, PA.
