Jim Devaux Wins 3 – $10,000 Guaranteed Pick 5 for Thursday, May 2

This afternoon there were 2 Open Trots on the card, the first event saw 4 horses vie for the lead when the gate left, Chamba (C. Stratton) was the first to make the top, Raceace (A. Schwartz) received the cold shoulder from Chamba and was parked to nearly the ¾ pole before he finally cleared. Patrick Hanover (J. Devaux) was right on his back and gained the lead in the paddock turn with Marvin B Swift right behind him with a full head of steam that propelled him across the wire first with Patrick Hanover finishing second and Consus Victory (Mike Merton) getting up for the show position in 1:58 – $20.00.  For Marvin B Swift it was his second victory in a row for trainer Steven Ray and a new lifetime record.

The second division saw Home’N Dry (B. Aldrich) cut the mile while Jimmy Devaux was tracking him in the 2 hole the entire mile with Weslynn Crown,  Devuax had his hands full to keep his mount in the hole as Home’N Dry was trying to go wire to wire.  Turning for home Devaux used the passing lane to scoot through to get the win in 1:57.2. – $14.00 Emma Town Bud was flying late in the stretch to get up for second followed by the tempo setting Home’N Dry.

Monica Eriksen is quietly having a banner year, this afternoon Stonebridge Rocks (J. Devaux) won in 1:56.4 – $2.80, the win ties Monica in fourth position with Mac Sowers with 19 training wins thus far in the year. The fluid gaited Match Meif You Can (G. Merton) a son of Resolve made it 2 in a row for trainer Jeffrey Gillis in 1:58.1 – $5.00.
